AHMEDABAD: Gujarat high court on Wednesday imposed fine of Rs 25,000 on two former students of the Centre for Environment Planning And Technology (CEPT) for filing a PIL objecting to the institute's decision to shelve the masters degree programme on the subject of climate change.

The HC junked PIL filed by former students of Climate Change and Sustainable Development - Chirag Shashtri and Mitesh Bhuva- and fined him saying that the litigation was aimed at defaming the members of board of management and the trustees of the university. This was after the CEPT filed its reply to the PIL and supplied various communications made by Shashtri to different authorities.
