School of Architecture at the University of Texas-Austin Faculty, Greetings! We are now calling for papers in the area of Popular Art, Architecture & Design for the annual Popular Culture Association National Conference, the 1st - 4th of April 2015, in New Orleans, LA, at the New Orleans Marriott right on the edge of the French Quarter.

Popular Art, Architecture & Design is concerned with the aesthetics, the history and the theory of popular culture in the everyday world of the past, the present and the future. Scholars from disciplines including Architecture, Art History, Fine Art, Industrial Design, and Interior Design are invited to submit abstracts for papers, proposals for panels, etc. At previous conferences the topics have included, but were certainly not limited to, World Fairs; Neon signs; architecture in the writings of Umberto Eco; urban image; graphic design; the architecture of Tadao Ando; Disneyland; railroad stations; sardine can art; the paintings of Thomas Kinkade; Vietnamese shop-houses; mobile homes; shopping malls; clothing design; Hopalong Cassidy merchandise; Superman and Art Deco; Motels; the art of Howard Finster; placemaking versus travelling; etc., etc. It is a broad church!
