A  journey of six decades has several achievements and some forgotten aspirations. To relive these aspects, some perspectives, glances and images, architect BV Doshi will display selected projects as part of a multi-dimensional exhibition. To open at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), New Delhi today, the exhibition titled Celebrating Habitat — compiled with his granddaughter Khushnu Panthaki-Hoof (34), an architect and designer herself — will display 37 of Doshi's total of 70 projects. For educator and institute builder Doshi, this is a celebration of the essence of design.

"We have created a kind of infotainment- knowledge park within the hall of NGMA hall (8,000 sq ft), with diverse typologies encompassing sacred place, bazaar, home, elevated structures and more. Each project on display is like a living being with its own identity, character, environment and the ability to strike conversation with its inhabitants," says the 87-year-old. "This show is my vision of the future's School of Design. Perhaps the country's longest and biggest retrospective exhibition, the display demonstrates a way of life. It is an attempt to encapsulate the aesthetics that architecture brings to life," he adds.
