Day after he was suspended without a warning, Assistant Professor Ajay Katuri in Faculty of Planning at CEPT dashed off an email to the institute president calling the order 'unauthorised' and 'unjustified'. The professor is also planning to approach board members to bring the matter to light before higher authorities.

….

Your action of placing me under suspension smacks of malafide intention and victimisation." The professor said the letter was his immediate reaction to the suspension order. ... "I was under great pressure. I wanted to protest against the suspension letter but was not permitted to do so. My office, keys and equipment were snatched. I was not even allowed to take my property like research reports and PhD research database. Ignoring my long association of 13 years, I was asked to vacate the premises," he wrote to Patel. Katuri also wrote, "It is suggested that I prepare an appeal as per Article 5.7 if I so wish... but you have not stated what is this Article 5.7."

He told Mirrorthat a copy enclosed with the suspension order showed that Article 5.7 deals with Action on Inquiry Report, and has nothing to do with suspension. "Your action of suspending me is wholly illegal, unjust, and contrary to university rules. I would therefore request you to cancel your suspension order and restore my original position immediately,”  ….

Katuri told [Ahmedabad] Mirror, "I cannot forget the ill-treatment meted out to me after being with this university for so long. It is inhuman and undignified. The suspension is based on false charges and I will bring this to light with proof in front of CEPT board members." When contacted, CEPT University Registrar Anita Hiranandani said, "I am not aware of the matter as the letter was not marked to me."
