Inflexión / Turning Point - The Transformation Process in Spanish Architecture

Inflexión / Turning Point, organised by the Spanish Ministry of Development through the General Directorate for Architecture, Housing and Land and Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), refers to the transformation process that Spanish architecture is currently undergoing. Resilience, ecology and social values are issues examined by the 15 winning projects and 27 finalists of XII BEAU the 12th Spanish Architecture and Urbanism Biennial. The need for sustainable construction, revitalized urban centres, a transition from policies based on the recycling and reuse of existing structures and resources are issues that embody this turning point. Alternative strategies for urban development, emerging among younger generations, envision a different perspective into the near future. The exhibition offers a panoptical understanding of contemporary Spanish architecture and can be read as an experiment in architectural communication using CCTV (Closed Circuit Television), smartphones and digital screen capture images.
