The Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) has held preliminary talks with Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) for drawing graffiti and art work on coaches depicting Kerala's social and cultural heritage.

According to KMRL officials, they plan to replicate graffiti done by KBF inside coaches. "We have been thinking of giving a Kerala flavour to coaches. We have held preliminary talks with KBF for graffiti that can be used inside coaches," the official said.

"We want coaches to be unique and have a touch of Kerala. There should be a feel of the journey as well. We have not given any specific suggestions to the artists of KBF. It is for them to decide on the design and even the theme," the official said.  The Metro agency has entrusted the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) to prepare the designs for Metro rail stations. It is learnt that the agency has submitted the final design of almost all stations.

The designs of the station would reflect the socio-cultural aspects of Kerala. As per the plan, exteriors of the stations will feature houseboats, palm leaves and other social and cultural artefacts related to the state.
