The three-day TechSymp 2015 organized by Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) on the theme of internet of things (IoT) got concluded on Friday. The participants advocated inter-operability of technology and standardization as two major areas needing attention.

Dr Anil K Roy, general co-chair of the event, said IEEE is already working on standards such as architectural framework for IoT which will form the backbone of the smart grid for smart cities. "A panel will work on formulation and development of standards for cities. It will also help grading these smart cities - higher the grade, smarter the city. For smart cities, we have to integrate the system in the infrastructure itself," he said.

He added that a white paper would set the ground for technology standardization for the industry.
