Maharashtra state for housing minister Ravindra Waikar says, if any one wants to own a vehicle, h/she should have their own parking slots. "If this move is approved, it will address the traffic congestion issue," Waikar said.

Presently most of the people do not have their own parking slot still they are buying cars is what Waikar says. "These cars are parked on roads and footpaths that causing a lot of traffic trouble to pedestrians. I have decided to write the chief minister in this regard," he adds.According to Waikar, the unauthorised parking is major issue in Mumbai and suburban districts. He says,"The haphazard parking results into accidents and few people have also lost their lives. Several times I have written to the traffic authority but they fail to take action against the illegal parking. Indirectly, the traffic police are supporting the illegal parking under the bridges and narrow lanes."

He also mentioned that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has constructed wider roads but these roads are also blocked by the cars parked on both the sides of the roads.
