In New Delhi on Thursday , a scheme of constructing around 1 crore houses in the next 3 years has been approved by the government in Lok Sabha in order to achieve the objective of “Housing for all by 2020”.

And to pursue this objective , the government has set a vision which the Union Cabinet has approved without any question! Now the rural housing scheme called Indira Awaas Yojana is re constructed into Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin across the nation.

This news came into light when it was announced by the Union Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar. So with this scheme , the government envisions to construct almost 1 crore house in the phase of 3 years from 2016 -2017 to 2018 – 2019.

The minister informed that the construction of houses is not permissible under MGNREGS scheme but with PMAY-G and MGNREGS together it has been made mandatory for unskilled labor to participate in the construction and earn their daily wages which will likely take around some 90 – 95 days.

He also informed that several benefits are provided on this scheme with the assistance of Rs 1.20 Lakh in plain areas and Rs1.30 lakh in hilly areas.

He commented on Swacch Bharat Mission (Gramin) saying ,”it is a behavioural change among the people of India to adopt a safe and hygienic conditions.”

“Upto 8 % of finance will be spent on educating and spreading this information and the 5 % will be spent on state and district levels” said Mr.Tomar.
