The C.R.I.E.R., Interdepartmental Research Centre on Romantic Europe, which has an international vocation but is also rooted in the Veronese reality, proposes with this conference to delve into other always been the subject of widespread consideration. Specifically, the conference aims to explore the role of the Veneto hinterland in 19th century European culture, when cities such as Padua, Vicenza and Verona, as well as the Venetian Villas, the landscapes of the Brenta and Adige rivers or the Alps, were not merely a corollary to the lagoon city, but places with specific cultural characteristics, capable of attracting the attention of multitudes of artists (writers, musicians, painters, sculptors, architects...), who in different ways and expressive languages have grasped, witnessed and passed on its peculiarities.
