In a contemporary world where “deconstruction” is an appropriate position for literary criticism and “de-constructivism” an appropriate architectural response to the human environment, I am reminded of one Indian philosopher's argument to prove the theorem that any number times zero equals zero: “If the sequence 1 × 1 = 1, 1 × ½ = ½, 1 × ¼ = ¼ …, etc., holds, its logical termination must be 1 × 0 = 0.” If a building has no meaning, is it worth taking apart?
