450 sq. meter single family three bedroom house. House constructed on a somewhat square lot turning a corner with streets on two sides. The inner spaces of the two storeyed house is protected by deep verandahs from the hot afternoon and late evening sun. Yet opening up to the cool south, south-west breeze of the evenings. The house turns away from the noisy main street towards the gardens on south and west sides. A total blank facade except the entry to the house and a balcony projection above expresses this condition. This house though built after the Indian Institute of Forest Management in Bhopal, MP is a beginning of several architectural thoughts and ideas based on architecture of plinth, superstructure and roof. The plinth is hollow, heavy and coloured from the use of slate. The thrust and direction of the house is horizontal creating shadow pockets to harbour window openings to the interior.
