The scattered lives of urban nomads in Delhi. This homeless camp of evicted squatter families was established
near the site of their former demolished settlement, behind the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. This shows the situation eight years after the demolition of 2000, until the squatters were pushed further away by the final eviction for the construction of an elevated road to connect the stadium and the athletes’ village for the 2010 Commonwealth Games. During this transient state, regular police exactions prevented the squatters from consolidating their camp, compelling them—in order to avoid demolition and beating—to dismantle every morning the plastic-sheet sheds erected at night (Dupont and Vacquier 2013)
