Architectural Drawings: the components

Arrival and Departure are planned at the West near Chhatri, the East towards National Stadium and also from the tunnel that connects from the proposed War Museum. The Memorial experience starts with the Lotus Pond and moves down into a sunken space with a large rectangular pool. On both sides of the water, body are 4.5 meters wide covered walkways that house the roll of honour of the fallen soldier. Overall about 40,000 names can be accommodated in the main galleries and also the cross galleries that lead to the satellite courts.

The focal point at the meeting of the galleries is marked with the Ashoka Emblem symbolising national authority.

The water pools along the axis are in three categories in succession, the Pool of Nation with Ashoka Emblem in the centre, the Pool of People and the Pool of Sacrifice or Tyag Kund. The Tyag Kund has a symbolising artwork based on the theme of a Fallen Soldier and his family, the sacrifice and continued struggle of the family looking for a sense of closure.
