This vaav at Vasna has been engulfed by an informal settlement with an approach that is incorporated into a roadside shop selling recycled furniture. The labyrinthine mesh of narrow streets makes it difficult to find and reach the stepwell. A majestic banyan tree has taken roots in the walls of the abandoned well, however, the stepwell sees insufficient human engagement and upkeep from the community.
Stepwells of Ahmedabad is sponsored by the Asian American Cultural Center (AACC), Yale School of Architecture Exhibitions Fund and Anthill Design. The research on these stepwells was initiated in 2015 as an initiative of Anthill Design.
