Through camera praxis we will reclaim and activate cinema as a social space by organizing film and video screenings in different locations with diverse audiences. The audiences become the producers of stories and images and a participatory and collaborative form of story telling and image making will be developed. The project will use collaborative forms of image making that engage closely with the participant's context and have a direct relevance to their lives and concerns, from personal to political. As it advances, the participants will be guided through different phases and tools of filmmaking, through intermittent workshops and practice. Collaborating with eminent film historian and former vice-president of Osians, Dr. Kaushik Bhaumik along with other artists and filmmakers this Desire Machine Collective initiative, will guide  through world and asian cinema and instigate conversations leading to collaborative and individual filmmaking ventures for its participants within the temporal limits of the project.

Dr. Kaushik Bhaumik will conduct our first workshop, which concentrates on Asian Cinema and will help the participants explore context and later help them articulate themselves.
