After failing to find any suitable candidates for the post of Dean of Faculty of Architecture at CEPT University, the premier planning institute has again embarked on a "global search" and announced a five-member search committee to recruit a Dean this week.

A similar selection committee had been formed earlier this year. However, it had failed to find suitable candidates to fill the position. Now, we will be having a "global search" and are looking for candidates with appropriate work experience and perspective to take charge.

"Apart from our websites, internal faculty recommendations will also be considered and we also plan to put out advertisements in news dailies to publicise the position," said CEPT University Registrar Anita Hiranandani. After a failed search earlier this year, however, the scales are seemingly tipped in favour of independent practising architects, than academicians.

"The committee will begin reviewing the list of candidates in January next year and hopefully arrive at a decision by March 2014. The institute is focussed on hiring a person, who has a good body of work backing him up and should be able to lead the school in the sphere of architecture globally. We have kept a time-frame until January next year for the nominations process," said Chirayu Bhatt, Coordinator at presidents' office at CEPT University. "Earlier too, the institute had appointed late Kurula Varkey, who was a practising architect to head the School of Architecture almost a decade ago," Bhatt added.
