This call for papers wants papers that capture the many guises of ancient Egypt in literature.  The panel will present welcomes popular cultures use of the ancient Egyptian motif and also the imagined past.  It does not restricted to just nineteenth-century egyptomania that worked with racialized science writings and the rise of Egyptology brought on explorations.  This panel will treat Egyptian imagery in a context and delves into the politics of art that intersects Egyptomanic signifers as signs meaning of futurity.  Textual representations and characterizations of ancient Egypt from Fan books, Comic strips, film, fictional, art history, historical, Egyptological and archaeological perceptions of ancient Egypt.  Cleopatra, Akhenaten, pyramids, religion, and any other topical areas referenced in fictional works are especially encouraged.  Bodily representations or ancient Egyptian allusions in literary works that consider race, sex, and bodily interirority, are especially welcome. All periods and not just nineteenth century are sought.  Even alien perceptions and literary representations will be included. century there were many thoughts about the world .
