As the State government was planning to develop Machilipatnam into a ‘Smart Town’, the School of Planning and Architecture (SPAP), Vijayawada, students have taken up a study on Masula Master Plan. The student is focussing on documentation of land use, household survey and other engineering aspects. The ten-day study by the thirty students was expected to complete by February 18.

The students pursuing Masters in Planning have taken up the exercise as a part of their academics. However, they would also share their views and experiences with the State and municipal authorities, suggesting necessary actions on all fronts including treatment of rain and drainage water and engineering aspects. The students were formed into several teams based on their interested areas such as architecture, planning and geography during the study.
