CEPT University will take one more year to decide on the continuation of Bachelor of Planning course. After protest from the undergraduate planning students who demanded Institute of Town Planners of India's (ITPI) approval to get recognition for their degree and in getting government jobs, the university had reduced the duration of its course to four years from the previous five. The university put a pause on admission to BPlan programme pending clarity in the curriculum structure. In December 2014, a team from ITPI came to the campus to check if the curriculum followed the institute's norms and the entire course got covered in four years.

After the three-day inspection, the team gave positive sign and gave CEPT in-principle approval for certification. However, till date there is no official written communication from ITPI on this. When contacted, Faculty of Planning Dean Darshini Mahadevia said, "Yes, it's true that we received in-principle approval from ITPI after its inspection. However, we are waiting for the written nod from them." On the continuation of the undergraduate course, she said, "We are in the process of redesigning the course as the programme didn't have much of a structure.
