Documented studies at CEPT have been generated as a part of an annual collaborative coursework between students of the same and mixed batches.

CEPT University will flag off the country’s first ever archives dedicated to preserving India’s history of architecture, planning and design by showcasing the documentation tradition being followed at CEPT for more than five decades. The ‘CEPT Archives for built environment, design and culture in India’ located at Ahmedabad Education Society (AES) in the city will be formally launched through an exhibition titled ‘Documentation Tradition at CEPT’ between from August 1 and August 16, 2015.

While the event will be launched by luminaries like Padma Bhushan architectural historian and author-Madhusudan Amilal Dhaky along with Pradeep Mehendiratta and Vandana Sinha from American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS), New Delhi, it will also witness the digital portal of the Archives being flagged off. The exhibition will feature around 80 curated panels that will showcase the gist from a total of 149 projects and 5,214 drawings from the Faculty of Architecture and Design at CEPT.

“To give a panoramic overview of the studies conducted across India, the exhibition is conceptualised by understanding various regions, typologies, scale and various other aspects of making a built form, which affect our everyday lives. The topics, regions and typologies are being selected, outlined and conducted by the (CEPT) faculty members; these studies until recently were (earlier) known as the Related Study Program or RSP and now are part of the summer/winter school,” said Ishita U Shah, Architectural & Design historian at CEPT Archives.
