The Chandigarh Administration will organise an international symposium from October 9 to 12 to celebrate the legacy of city’s designer, Le Corbusier, on the occasion of his 128th birth anniversary on October 6.

Academic experts from abroad as well India will participate in a discussion on the contribution of the 20th century architect, besides celebrating his architectural legacy in Chandigarh.

The road ahead for the city as well as ‘Indian Urbanisation’ will also be one of the key themes in this international event.

William J R Curtis, an architectural historian, who has several books on Le Corbusier’s vision and legacy will among the key speakers.

A former Harvard university professor, William’s much acclaimed book ‘Ideas and Forms’ that delves deeply into the Corbusian vision, is critically appreciated worldwide. A new edition of the book was recently released.

Rahul Mehrotra, chairperson of Graduate School of Design, Harvard University will be another key speaker in the seminar. He has written and lectured extensively on issues linked to with architecture, conservation, and urban planning.
