RANCHI: The state government has decided to prepare a smart village scheme for the holistic development of its villages in response to the Centre's suggestion.

The rural development department has sought ideas from experts for preparing a draft on the scheme.

"We look to learn from the nationwide concept of smart villages before developing a comprehensive scheme of our own," N N Sinha, principal secretary of rural development department, said on Thursday.

The department has invited experts for a two-day deliberating session, scheduled to commence at Sri Krishna Institute of Public Administration from Friday.

Among the invitees are TRAI chairman and former chief secretary of Jharkhand, R S Sharma. Chief minister Raghubar Das and rural development minister Neelkanth Singh Munda will also be a part of the brain-storming session.

Sinha said the scheme will focus on the use of latest technological advances in the areas of health, governance, hygiene, skill development and education. The department wants to give the new scheme a distinctive feature from those already existent such as Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) and Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY).
