Sources said plans to develop Premabhai Hall at Bhadra as a City Centre were afoot. Eminent architect BV Doshi confirmed the news.

The City Centre will furnish all details of Ahmedabad to visitors. "The City Centre will host exhibitions on the city, and cultural and social programmes. There will an information centre and audiovisual descriptions of the city for tourists. The plaza will include a coffee house and library," Doshi said.

He further said that the city as well as the state's glorious past, present and future will be presented to visitors at the City Centre. "Our aim is for activities to continue day and night at Bhadra," he said, adding that they were drafting the final details of the project and will present it to the AMC soon.

The City Centre will be part of a Rs11.5 crore project of the pathway and plaza connecting Bhadra Fort and Teen Darwaza. The adjoining street will be paved and will have trees, lighting and a fountain, among other things. The project, popularly known as the Bhadra pedestrian project, is an effort to regularise traffic in the Walled City. Street vendors in the area will also be allotted space once the project gains shape.
