Stadtgespräch. Metropolitan Perspectives

In the series »Stadtgespräch. Metropolitan Perspectives«, since autumn 2014, international artists, scholars, and activists have been presenting their theoretical and practical approaches to a contemporary critic of the metropolis. The discussions open up various perspectives on the metropolis of Hamburg and present or further explore programmatic questions of the »Stadtkuratorin Hamburg« project. »Stadtkuratorin Hamburg« (curating public art of the city of Hamburg) is a project initiated by the city of Hamburg and a reorientation of the program »Kunst im öffentlichen Raum« (art in public space), which was launched by the city in 1981. The goal of the artistic and discursive activities of the »Stadtkuratorin Hamburg« program is set to begin from Hamburg but seeks to contribute to the international discourse on »European« and »Global« art and culture in urban spaces.

The series is realized in cooperation with the Institute for Social Sciences at the University of Hamburg and curated by Sophie Goltz (artistic director »Stadtkuratorin Hamburg«) and Vassilis Tsianos (Professor of Sociology, University of Applied Sciences Kiel)1
