The Kala Academy has discontinued hosting programmes at its venues since August 1 and stopped accepting bookings for events. Those who had pre-booked the auditoria for events have been refunded the money, minister for art and culture, Govind Gaude told TOI.

“We have also given them the option of shifting it (their event) to the Ravindra Bhavans or to any institution which is under the directorate of art and culture. The Kala Academy is going to transfer the amount to that respective institution as far as the commercial part is concerned,” he said.

Speaking about the current situation of the Kala Academy, he said that a report of the institution’s structural audit is awaited.

“I’ve given an assurance in the assembly. We have already awarded the tender for the structural audit to a firm from Navi Mumbai and are expecting the report before September 10. In the meantime, we have decided to shift our faculties along with the related admin office to the Adil Shah Palace,” Gaude said.
