NEW: Information about student presentations - update 5 June:

  • Each participant is expected to present a paper (or draft of a paper) at the summer school.
  • The programme includes presentations by participants every afternoon. Please prepare a presentation of your work (approx. 20 minutes).
  • Your paper will be discussed by a senior discussant as well as by a fellow summer school participant. This means that each of you will be assigned to be discussant.
  • We will soon send out a more detailed program for the student presentations, informing when each of you are expected to present as well as on which paper you will be discussant.
  • The deadline for submitting the paper you will present is June 20.

Theme

The overall theme of the ERSA summer school 2013 is Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Development of Regions of Varying Density.

Goals and Format

The lectures will focus on both theory and empirical research methodology, and how these can be matched to progress our understanding of the relationships between innovation, entrepreneurship and development in regions of varying density. The aim is to give the participants advanced knowledge of theory and methodology, emphasizing knowledge gaps and avenues for research areas that will push the research frontier forward.

Best paper award

Best paper award of 1500 EUR for the best student participant paper. This award is financed by the Swedish Entrepreneurship Forum.

Call for participants to the 26th ERSA Summer School 2013, is now CLOSED

Who should apply?

ERSA summer schools target PhD students or junior researchers with less than 10 years of research experience.

How to apply?

Step 1: For your application, the following information and documents will be requested:

  1. first and last name
  2. date of diploma giving access to doctoral studies in the country in which the diploma was obtained
  3. current status and affiliation
  4. motivation letter
  5. a scientific CV
  6. a short description of previous and current research work
  7. a short description of career plans
  8. a recommendation letter from PhD supervisor or research director
  9. title and short abstract (10 lines) of intended presentation
  10. Extended abstract (minimum 4 pages) of the work to be presented
  • Please note: Could you please make one unique document (pdf format) of the Extended abstract (9.)+ Motivation letter (4.)+ Scientific CV including (5.6.7.) + Recommendation letter (8.) of the above list.

Step 2: Create your account on the Summer School Platform and follow the instructions to submit your application.

Selection of participants

  • Participants will be selected by the local organizing committee.
  • The organizers will look for an international mix of participants.
  • The number of participants is limited to 30.
  • In case of a great amount of applicants, selection will be based on the applicants’ CV.

Registration

  • After notification of acceptance, the participant must register and pay a participation fee of EUR 200 to ERSA via a debit note that will be sent to you by email.
  • The costs of accommodation, meals and social activities are covered by the Summer School.
  • Participants must cover their travel expenses from their home countries to the summer school and back.

  • RSAI Membership is requested for participants of the ERSA Summer School.

Additional activities

Participants in the Summer School in 2013 are encouraged to submit a paper in a special session on the theme of the summer school at the ERSA congress 2014.
