GURGAON: Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) is going to study the power infrastructure of four cities—Singapore, Pune, Kolkata and Ahmedabad for developing electrical infrastructure in Gurgaon under ambitious smart grid project, which is likely to provide 24X7 power supply.

Senior officer of smart grid circle said the work under this project will start from DLF area of the city. For construction of 33KV sub-station and 11 KV transmission line and to shift all electrical infrastructure underground they have already started survey of DLF Phase 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and Sushant Lok Pahse I.

He said with the ongoing survey they are trying to find out load centre and how they can construct 33 KV sub-station at minimum cost. Along with this they are also trying to find out the shortest route to connect 11 KV line with sub-station to cut down the cost.

"For building this infrastructure we will study the power infrastructure models of these four cities. Then we will choose one model, bested suited to our city, and try to make it perfect for Gurgaon," said official.

Superintendent Engineer of Smart city project Anil Goyal said at present DLF area gets power from 66KV power sub-station at Q Block of DLF in sector 28. "There is plan to install additional 33 KV sub-station and connect it with transmission line to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the area," he said.

Smart power grid project is one of its kind initiatives which will be jointly piloted by the state and union government. The Rs 12000 crore project is expected to ensure 24-hour power supply to Gurgaon and to rid the city of its dependence on diesel generator sets for power back-up.

The project, which will entail an overhaul of existing transmission network and upgrade of 39 substations, will be executed in two phases. The first phase, spanning sectors 1 to 57, Udyog Vihar and Manesar, aims to provide these areas uninterrupted power supply through an exclusive transmission network. The second phase will cover sectors 58 to 115.
