The RIBA show their support to The Stephen Lawrence Building Futures Programme by offering a number of their students places on their upcoming ‘Sustainable Workshop’ in March, run by the iconic architect Yasmeen Lari; Pakistan’s first female architect. The workshop is part of RIBA’s Creation from Catastrophe Exhibition.

Jane Duncan, RIBA President –

“We are proud to be growing our long-standing partnership with the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust. Our new national schools and young people’s programme and the Trust’s Building Futures programme are aligned in a shared commitment to supporting future generations in learning about and appreciating the value of good architecture. Through partnership there is the opportunity to exponentially extend the impact of our work, which we hope will lead to the long-standing benefit of many more young people who otherwise may not have the opportunity to access education and careers in architecture”.

The Trust and RIBA are developing exciting new areas for partnerships working this year, sharing opportunities across networks, including youth forums and workshops, widening the reach and support provided to young aspiring architects from marginalised backgrounds.

Sonia Watson, CEO Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust –

“The RIBA have hosted the Annual Stephen Lawrence Memorial Lecture at their 66 Portland Place premises each September for the past 10 years in support of The Trust, which celebrates the life of Stephen Lawrence and the work The Trust carries out as part of his legacy. With both The Trust and RIBA’s new youth focused architecture programmes we will be able to offer new opportunities to young aspiring architects, ensuring these valuable opportunities reach all young people, it’s an exciting time for both The Trust and The RIBA.”
