Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) has chalked out larger plan to provide housing facility to all those living in slums and families of below poverty line and low income groups living in city under 'housing for all' scheme clubbing the various central and state government run housing schemes.

For slum dwellers, houses of about 350 sqft will be distributed in G plus 3 or G plus 4 size apartments in the where they already living. For this project, central government provides Rs 2.80 lakh to SC/STs and Rs 2.20 lakh for others. Rest required amount will be contributed by city corporation, Prabhu told. He added that, already corporation has taken the work of constructing 1,044 houses at seven slums of the total 39 declared slums in city in first phase under Rajiv Awas Yojna. The scheme will be extended to tackle housing problems in all slums.

In order to provide affordable houses to low income groups, corporation has purchased 28 acres 38 gunta land in Anagol, Alarwad and Kanabargi where about 3,500 houses will be constructed on vertical style.
