The Pune Smart City Development Corporation Ltd (PSCDCL) has proposed to take support of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) administration for starting its operations till the special purpose vehicle (SPV) appoints its own staff.

The Pune Smart City Development Corporation Ltd (PSCDCL) has proposed to take support of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) administration for starting its operations till the special purpose vehicle (SPV) appoints its own staff. However, the elected representatives of the PMC, who are directors in the SPV board, are likely to oppose it on behalf of the civic administration citing overload of responsibilities.

According to the proposal, the smart city SPV wants to urge the board to seek support from the accounts department, audit department and vigilance department of the PMC on need basis till the company makes its final appointments, for better internal financial control.

The board of directors of PSCDCL would be meeting on Saturday to discuss the issue.

“The smart city proposal was approved in the PMC with various conditions, including that the civic staff would not be deputed or directly used for the functioning of the SPV. Thus, the proposal seeking support of the PMC staff is against the resolution passed earlier,” said a civic officer.

In another proposal, the PSCDCL has proposed to seek support and coordination of the smart city cell of the
PMC with the state and Union governments for the company alongwith existing responsibilities.

Meanwhile, the PSCDCL is also proposing to appoint a human resource agency to take up recruitment of key managerial personnel for the smart city project as per the guidelines of the union urban development ministry.

The board would also take note of the intimation to the PMC to deposit its share of Rs 50 crore per year for two years by depositing it in PSCDCL account.
