GREHA , Sehreeti and Investigating Design - part of the Mehrauli Collective are exploring the resilience and regeneration of historic areas. They are together organising series of urban workshops in Mehrauli for multidisciplinary graduate and postgraduate students as well as young professionals. 

Mehrauli Talkies is the second of this series of workshop and will be conducted near Adam Khan's Tomb from 1st till 2nd October. Seats are limited.

Soundboard Media and Sehreeti bring to Mehrauli a two day workshop called ‘Mehrauli Talkies - Mehrauli Ki Kahaniyaan – Mehrauli ki Zubaani’ on 1st and 2nd October exploring Mehrauli’s urban narratives, giving an opportunity for the youth of Mehrauli to create its own community radio and become stakeholders of their own heritage.

The workshop is about exploring Mehrauli's urban narratives and learn a new skill of telling stories in audio for your professional work/interest. You will learn to create your own PODCAST featuring interviews with locals, historians and fellow domain experts, using no more than your own smart phone. The workshop will explore methods of conducting interviews, creating storyboards, audio recording and editing, podcast production with music and sound effects, publishing the podcast on internet, and creating marketing and outreach strategies. 

Deep Bajaj, founding partner at Peebuddy, will join us for a talk on social entrepreneurship for you to better understand how to monetise your podcast's content. Renowned historian William Dalrymple will join us for a Q&A session. Young professionals and students of history, architecture, urban design, development studies, sociology, media, journalists, content writers, heritage enthusiasts, social entrepreneurs and fellow urbanist are welcome to participate.

MENTORS

Shirshendu Banerjee: From being an FM radio jockey to COO of the Zee group's FM radio assets and now an entrepreneur in broad/ narrowcasting, the last 2 decades of cross sectional experience in broadcast radio in India has endowed Shirshendu with learnings from the ground up of the radio medium.Having launched Red FM in Delhi and 14 other radio stations across the country, Shirshendu made the switchover from the hospitality industry 20 years back. In his latest avatar he has been evangelising PODCASTING as the future of radio, bringing radio, to the people. He catapults everyday people to host their own podcasts and develop fresh content from every walk of life. He has been a trainer for hundreds of radio jockeys and on air talent. He is Director at Soundboard Media, a company specializing in audio content in the digital space.

Professor Savyasaachi: Savyasaachi is Professor at the department of sociology Jamia Millia Islamia. He has worked in the fields of political ecology, indigenous people, development, social movements, and conservation architecture. He has taught social anthropology to students of ‘conservation architecture, at the School of Planning and Architecture Delhi. At National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, he has taught weeklong SLA courses on Indian Society and culture and has been sharing with textile students ways of doing field work and Craft Documentation. He has been in country faculty as well travelling Anthropology faculty for the International Honors Program.

Nidhi Batra: Nidhi is an urban development practitioner trained as an architect and urban designer. She is the Director of a not-for-profit initiative called 'Sehreeti' that works for urban awareness and participatory planning. She is also an independent consultant with The World Bank and Participatory Research in Asia and visiting faculty at Jamia Millia Islamia and Sushant School of Art and Architecture. She holds a M.Arch in Urban Design from School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi and Bachelor in Architecture from T.V.B. School of Habitat Studies, Delhi. 

Uzma Azhar: Uzma holds a PhD in Sociology and is currently teaching as Visiting Faculty at SPA and Jamia Millia Islamia. She also works as a Freelance Researcher.
