Motorists and pedestrians are most vulnerable at 10 very specific, and very deadly stretches of road in the national Capital.

These black spots comprise merely 30 km of road length - 0.01 per cent of total road in Delhi but they result into an average 250 fatal and serious accidents every year.

However, road researchers and scientists have come out with a Rs 52-crore plan which, they claim, can save nearly 21,000 fatal and serious accidents over the next 20 years.

This, translated in terms of economic benefit, would amount to Rs 408 crore, the research study said. The road safety audit on 10 black spots was conducted by the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA).

These spots include Sarai Kale Khan, Mori Gate, ISBT Kashmere Gate, Nigam Bodh Ghat, Mahipalpur Flyover, Shani Mandi on NH-1, Shahdara Flyover, Mukundpur Chowk and Punjabi Bagh chowk.

Of these, Sarai Kale Khan on Ring Road figures as the deadliest spot with as many as 45 fatal and serious accidents in the year 2014.
