PUNE: A probe into Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe Vikas Mahamandal scam has revealed that office-bearers of the state-run organisation had siphoned off Rs 312 crore. Initially, the fraud amount was estimated around Rs 147 crore, but during subsequent investigations, the amount escalated to Rs 312 crore.

Sanjay Kumar, additional director general of police, CID, said seven cases of cheating have been registered against the officebearers of the Mahamandal at different police stations. ... The scam is spread over 30 districts and the CID has so far arrested 13 office-bearers and booked five people of the Mahamandal. It has seized a plot, worth Rs 191 crore, located on Peddar Road in Mumbai, 64 vehicles and Rs 60 crore in cash.
