He said the government will only consider reasonable suggestions and demands.

The market’s traders have made eight demands, including not putting a basement in the new market, to have entrances on all sides of the building, and to make the ground floor 6 metres high.

U Zaw Win of the Tarmwe market committee said the government needs to make the building process more transparent, to do more field work, and to listen to the people. He added, “Although I do not know much about the law, I will carry out the construction legally. I welcome the new market.” 

The Myanmar Architecture Council and Myanmar Engineer Council discussed the design of the new market.
