ONCURATING.org is an independent international web journal focusing on questions around curatorial practise and theory. On the occasion of next year's documenta 14, we are seeking international contributions for a special issue on documenta, which will be published in June 2017.

We welcome innovative research (new work and existing articles for reprint) on the history of documenta, individual issues, institutional policies, artistic contributions, curatorial approaches and spatial practices, educational programmes and paracuratorial strategies as well as on the critique and reception of documenta from a broad range of disciplinary backgrounds, including art history, visual culture, exhibition and curatorial studies, museology, art education/mediation, philosophy, sociology, anthropology, design and architecture.

Aspects of interest include - but are not limited to - the specificity of documenta vis-à-vis other biennials, its political functions and social contexts, its shifting roles over time, its relations and contributions to art histories, canons and art markets, questions of display, mediality, temporality and spatiality as well as negotiations of agencies and authorships, and - last but not least - issues of race, class and gender.

Please submit complete drafts of your contribution and a short bio (max. 500 w) in Microsoft Word format to the editors no later than March 1st, 2017. Final edited versions of selected texts including images and captions are due on May 1st, 2017. Contributors are responsible for securing reproduction permissions for texts and images, English proof reading will be provided.
