PANJIM: Implementation of Regional Plan 2021 (RP21) would have been a great tribute to architect Charles Correa, but the BJP government failed to do it in the last five years, Leader of the Opposition Pratapsingh Rane said on Wednesday.
Rane led a scathing attack on the BJP for its failure to implement the Regional Plan. “We had drafted the plan under supervision of expert team headed by architect Charles Correa. It was a well-planned document,” he said.
The former Chief Minister said that after initially promising to scrap RP21, the BJP kept the same land use plan prepared by the Congress government in force, with no rectifications undertaken in five years. “Implementation of RP21 would have been agreat tribute to Charles Correa,” he said.
“Congress will ensure that the plan is slightly modified as per latest regulations and implemented within one year of coming to power,” Rane assured.
After keeping the contentious issue on the backburner for nearly four years, the government approved the modified plans of Sattari, Pernem and Canacona talukas, while in the case of others, the work continues.
