Design has always been a force driven by innovation that has influenced the development of the world, with its connotations and boundaries constantly challenged and redefined. Globalization and the digital era constantly witness the acceleration of international exchange and frequent interaction with design education that advances systematic thinking and innovations. The core of this symposium is to discuss how design education can cope with the grand challenges facing humanity today, including related ethical and technical issues.

Eminent educators, scholars and practitioners from world renowned universities and colleges in China, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, Netherlands, Australia, India and other countries and regions will gather together, sharing and discussing the idea of design education. Topics will include modes of teaching in Architecture, Design, Urban Design and Landscape Architecture, the future development and characteristics of these subjects, and integrative and innovative education. Also discussed will be how to cope with the needs of future diversified design talent in the context of future engineering endeavors in a way that will allow for the integration and systematic combination of teaching modes, methods and resources.
