Amaravati: The greenfield, Administrative City of Amaravati, capital of Andhra Pradesh, will be constructed with the vision of sustainable economic growth, 51 per cent Green and 10 per cent Blue, which mean greenery and water. This would be the first-of-its kind and top-rate administrative cities in the country, AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said.

Revealing details about the much-awaited Administrative City plan, which is one out of the nine proposed cities as part of Amaravati – people’s Capital City Master Plan, was almost in the final stages, Naidu told MLAs and MLCs at a meeting at the Assembly on Saturday.

Naidu also invited suggestions from members that if they give good and suitable suggestions, then he would change the plan according to those, stating that this was the best plan proposed by the State government. He said there was still scope for changes in it and would soon invite bidding for the construction of the Administrative City.

The plan was prepared by Foster + Partners and Hafeez Contractor and the representatives of these companies also explained the plan to the public representatives.

3 separate townships

Naidu explained that the Legislative Assembly, Secretariat, Ministers’ quarters, MLAs and MLCs quarters, residential houses of the Assembly, Secretariat and Commissionerate staff, apart from High Court Judges’ residences were proposed to be constructed in the Administrative City. He said that this city would be divided into three separate townships. He explained that the entire Capital city of Amaravati was divided into nine cities and 27 townships based on nine sectors, including administration, justice, education, health and others and out of these, the first city is the Administrative City.

The officials explained that they had drawn up these plans based on the principles of Vaastu and heritage of the State, without disturbing the interests of the local people.

The city would be located near Rayapudi village on the banks of River Krishna in Guntur district. The city plan shows that it would spread about 1 km width and nearly 3.7 km in length.

The riverine side of the city, the residential houses and toll apartments were proposed and on the other side of the city, the proposed administrative buildings.

The plan entails a multipurpose water canal which would be constructed with a depth of 1.4 to 2 metres to serve as water transportation system for visitors and to reduce the temperature. The plan targets reducing the temperature by four degrees. For that, this canal and 51 per cent greenery would be maintained in the city, Naidu explained.

The roads would be pedestrian-friendly and vehicle-friendly. Naidu said that all the entertainment amenities would be provided in the city. A bio park is also planned, where they would plant the best species of plants from across the globe.
