Dear Sir,

It has come to our attention that there is a suggestion to demolish the Hall of Nations and the Nehru Pavilion at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. These are important landmarks in the architectural history of the nation designed and built by the internationally renowned architect Raj Rewal and engineer Mahendra Raj. These buildings are representative of the architectural legacy of the modern Indian state- it's inventiveness and engineering expertise. They are an essential part of the history of architecture in the country and are used as examples by many architecture schools in their academic work. We have often used these buildings to illustrate concepts of structure and architecture to our students. The demolition of these buildings would be a great loss to the architectural heritage of the country. Perhaps there can be other ways through which we could re-imagine these spaces for new purposes. An adaptive reuse project could perhaps also be possible. We would be willing to assist in any way to be able to save these buildings.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Sincerely,
