JAIPUR: Rajasthan will develop 3169 smart villages, which will have clean drinking water, roads, sewerage system, Wi-Fi facility, e-library, sports ground, street lights and health facilities. 

State Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Rajendra Rathore said that 3169 villages have been selected for the year 2017-18, which will be developed into "smart villages". This comes along the lines of smart cities project. 

The villages will have all such facilities that any city has, Rathore said while giving a presentation during review meeting of smart village scheme here today. 

The meeting was chaired by state Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. 

Departmental officials said that eligible individuals will be provided accommodation on priority basis under PM Aawas Yojna (rural) in smart villages. 

Works including farm pond, cattle shed, levelling of farms, etc., will be completed on priority under the MNREGA.
