Addressing the meeting, Mittal said that Hyderabad will host the 10th edition of the Urban Mobility India (UMI) conference-cum-exhibition from the 4th of November this year.  The three day conference is an annual event organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Urban development, Government of India. The event is proposed to be organized by the Government of India in partnership with the Government of Telangana.  The theme of this year’s conference is intelligent, inclusive and sustainable mobility.  He said that the MD HMRL will be the nodal officer of the state for the conference.  Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Ministers K T Rama Rao, Mahender Reddy and other dignitaries would attend the conference.

The Secretary asked the Tourism department to provide accommodation and to facilitate travel and tour packages.  He also suggested a travel desk be set up at the conference site to facilitate booking of tour packages.  RTC officials have been asked to provide shuttle service to the delegates from the hotels to the conference venue.  The IT department will facilitate free Wi-fi at the venue, he said.

More than 1500 delegates from various parts of the country and different organisations across the world will participate in the event.  An exhibition showcasing different facets of urban mobility and the latest technology options will be displayed on the occasion.
