Victoria and Albert Museum, London, is hosting “Plywood: Material of the Modern World” featuring works by Alvar Aalto, Marcel Breuer and Charles and Ray Eames.

Light, strong and versatile, plywood is the surprising material. Alongside an incredible range of objects from planes to skateboards, this exhibition tells the story of how this often-overlooked material made the modern world. From houses, chairs and stools, to aircrafts, railways and sewing machines, plywood has left its mark on constructed world just as much as plastic has. The exhibition presents works by the artists Alvar Aalto, Marcel Breuer and Charles and Ray Eames around plywood.
