Chapsey Mistry a well-known architect from Bombay was one of the first to have a dual office in Ahmedabad.

Apart from being known to practice in the ‘modern style’ his projects in the city were well known for their use of Aluminium. In the Bansidhar house apart from the usual doors and windows, he also used the material for railings and for a space frame (detailed by M.C. Gajjar) to cover a top-lit, double height living space around which the house was organised. The house is organised into 3 main bays in each direction. A fourth minor bay in introduced in both directions for movement and services. The four corners of the house are occupied by walled-in functions that are closed and require privacy, leaving the central bays to be transparent. Light is brought into these areas from a terrace above the Kitchen and a large stairwell.

The interior design, an eclectic mix of elements from flooring to chandeliers was done by Rueben Ruebens.
