Protesters claim that the move would kill off a crucial lung space in Secunderabad.

The Telangana government on Wednesday released a blueprint of the proposed new Secretariat building which will come up at the Bison Polo Ground in Secunderabad.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has been looking at the land in Gymkhana Ground and Bison Polo Grounds, for constructing a 'vastu-compliant' Secretariat, Legislature and a cultural centre on the premises.

However, protesters claim that the move would kill off a crucial lung space in Secunderabad.

Officials are planning to lay the foundation stone during the Dusshera festival.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Minister of Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswara Rao said, “We have selected it after a large exercise. The location has good road and train connectivity. The general public can easily reach here from JBS and Secunderabad Railway Station. It is a historic decision that a Secretariat will have all facilities like a Prime Minister’s office. The new Secretariat building will become a role model for other states."

The Times of India reported that the building was going to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 3000 crore and would be three-stories tall.

The building was designed by renowned architecture firm Hafeez Contractor.
