Dehli and Ahmedabad, India

Several buildings in the Indian cities of Dehli and Ahmedabad are currently under threat of demolition or complete transofrmation.

HALL OF NATIONS, HALL OF INDUSTRIES AND NEHRU PAVILION AT PRAGATI MAIDAN, NEW DELHI

The Hall of Nations and Industries Complex along with the Nehru Pavilion at Pragati Maidan are iconic structures in Delhi´s landscape that are to be demolished. These landmarks were designed to commemorate and celebrate 25 years of India´s independence in 1972. The Halls of Nation and Industries constitute the largest span public structures in Delhi. Experts request them to be put back into activity and as well as their preservation and guvernamental protection.

CEPT UNIVERSITY BUILDINGS, AHMEDABAD

The students of the university set up a protest against the alterations made to the buildings designed by CEPT founder B.V. Doshi and considered his most representative structures. The university, set up in 1962, is known for its creative, liberal and democratic pedagogy, an ethos reflected in the buildings as well. These buildings are to be altered and a group of experts demands that those changes are to be made keeping in mind the architectural, social and artistic importance of the complex.

NATIONAL CRAFTS MUSEUM, NEW DELHI

The National Handicrafts and Handlooms Museum (NHHM), set up in 1958 by the late freedom fighter and conservationist Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay with an aim to preserve traditional art and crafts and make them commercially viable, is projected to be converted into the new Hastakala Academy in Delhi.
