AGRA: To keep a tab on pollution and preserve historical monuments in the Taj Trapezium Zone (TTZ), especially the Taj Mahal, the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi will develop a comprehensive action plan. A team of experts from the school are likely to attend a TTZ authority meeting scheduled to take place on December 29. 

The action plan will focus on preserving the Taj Mahal. The comprehensive action plan will comprise several small-term and long-term plans to check pollution in the area. 

At the meeting scheduled on December 29, divisional commissioner K Ram Mohan Rao, who is also the chairman of TTZ authority, will review progress of developmental works concerning the Taj Mahal with officials of Agra Municipal Corporation (AMC), Agra Development Authority (ADA), district administration and other departments. 

Earlier, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court by the tourism department for felling 11 trees to build a multi-level parking lot. Following this, an action plan to save the Taj Mahal was sought by the apex court. The next hearing in the matter is due to take place in February for which the state government has started working.
