AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has inaugurated National Heritage Research Center to Preserve and Develop Heritage Structures of India. Graduate School of Smart Cities Development (GSSCD) of GTU. National Heritage Research Centre got first research consultancy assignment from Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited, Gandhinagar to prepare Feasibility report on Geo Tourism on Pavagadh vulacano hills. Work has started and samples of rocks collected. 

Prof. Rajnikant Patel, Honorary Director of Graduate School of Smart Cities Development (GSSCD) GTU and andDr T Harinarayana, Advisor gave presentation about the centre& said that the Centre will provide services to Heritage Properties in the field of Engineering will include Surveying of the property by clone, Seismic Hazards Assessment, Structure Design for Renovation, Application of Advance Chemical, and Technologies for Preservation & Environment Protection. Services offered to Heritage Properties in the field of Management will include Promotion of The Property for Tourism, Funding Options for renovation & Advance Management of the Property.Potential Consultancy Projects of the Lab will include Geo tourism in Kutch District, Earth quake proof foundations of Sarkhej Roza and Sidi Sayad Jali etc. It will also explore research work for the Heritage Properties of Jaipur, Varanasi, Allahabad, Udaipur, Ujjain etc 

Prof. (Dr). Navin Sheth, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor GTU said in his greetings message that Graduate School of Smart Cities Development(GSSCD) of GTU is working to create a resource center for the nation for the requirement of the cities and citizens and helps in the smart cities development. The Graduate School seeks to involve industries and the society to ensure that its studies and research have a relevance to the needs of the society and the industries. The Graduate School also promotes institutes for research partnership to carry out the research for the components at grass root level of smart city development. Currently there are more than 30 colleges/institutes in Gujarat as Research Partners of the Graduate School including L.D. College Of Engineering, Ahmedabad, SAL Engineering College, Silver Oak Engineering College, Som-Lalit Institute of Management, Institute of Seismological Research (ISR)-Gandhinagar.
