These were among the first government flats built in the hundreds for the staff which was pouring in to Delhi after independence. Rahman plays with the square in the facades and uses recesses and simple brick surfaces and vertical linear elements to bring a design relief to these very cheaply built houses. They became famous as the 'Rahman Type Flats'. The window chajjas were added later. Many are vacant and I made a quick mental sketch plan which will follow. These are being demolished.
