Mosul, with its history, diverse demographic structure and rich resources, is one of the most complicated regions in the contemporary Middle East. In this regard, Mosul will continue to remain on the agenda of both international politics and academia. Any attempt with regards to conflict resolution in the region should be supported by scholarly research and thus we plan to organize a book project and a TV documentary investigating Mosul’s history, geography, economics, socio-cultural background and the political developments the city has gone through in the past two centuries. The planned book project is going to be published in three languages: Turkish, English and Arabic. We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to contribute a chapter for our book project. 

The main theme of the book project and the TV documentary is structured around the historical, political and socio-economic developments that Mosul had to face between 19^th and 21^st centuries:

• Mosul and its environment during the Umayyad, Abbasid, Seljuk and Ottoman eras,
• Social and demographic structure of Mosul and its environment throughout history,
• Economic history of Mosul and its environment with a specific focus on oil and energy resources,
• The integrity of the concept of “Vilayet of Mosul” within the context of history, geography, socio-cultural structure, and international law,
• Elections and British policies in Mosul within the context of Mosul Question as it was emerged in the 20^th century,
• The emergence of British policies about the people and oil of Mosul and its driving factors (oil, agriculture, irrigation, and defense),
• Vilayet of Mosul and Mosul Question within the context of International law and international agreements (Mondros, Sevres, Lausanne, Ankara),
• Mosul Question between Turkey and Britain: The Reports of the League of Nations and International Commissions,
• Mosul Question within the context of the guarantees given by Iraq to the League of Nations in 1932,
• The relations between Mosul, Kirkuk, Soleimani, Irbil and the Ankara government: The Revandiz Operation, Derbent War, and the Soleimani Congress,
• Turkey’s policies towards Mosul and Kirkuk; comparing Mosul and Hatay questions
• Iraqi policies towards Kurds and Turcomans in the region after Mosul was annexed to the Kingdom of Iraq,
• The position of Mosul within the context of the broader ethnic, religious/sectarian and ideologic conflicts in the region,
• The ISIS occupation and the related developments
• The future of Mosul

Important Notes:

• The above-mentioned topics are the main themes that the book is structured around. If you kindly accept our invitation to contribute, we will be waiting for a working title and an abstract of 300 words as soon as possible.
• The chapters should be around 15-20 pages; 12 point, Times New Roman.
• There will be a copyright fee of 1500 US Dollars for your contribution to the book and the TV documentary.
